It was a lovely honour to be invited to Saturday night’s Great Limerick Ball at The Strand Hotel. Such a special night where 26 charities were recognised for the hard work and constant support they give to those who need it most.
My lovely friend Richard Lynch led the proceedings on the night which was organised by Denyse O’Brien. To be honest with you, going to events like this one really blows me away. Each person in the room on Saturday night could tell you a story that would really touch your heart. To see so many amazing charities in Limerick, to hear stories, to hear of the work people put in to drum up support and to help others was truly inspiring. For the past couple of years I’ve been an ambassador for Cliona’s Foundation and I have seen the hard work everyone there puts in constantly. The amount of fundraisers, ideas, events and help they give is incredible. It’s mind blowing.
On Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Siobhan Mungovan who recently launched her book – Me And My Backbone – about her journey with Spina Bifida. 16-year-old singer Leah Melling was also there on the night to perform some of her songs. A true talent and one to watch.
A wonderful night, congrats to all for bringing the awareness of so many amazing charities.
